Observing and Simulating Galaxy Evolution in the Era of JWST

Understanding how galaxies form and evolve is a major goal of contemporary astrophysical research. The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), launched at the end of 2021, promises to revolutionize the field by providing access to galaxies at an early cosmic epoch, when the Universe was only a few hundred million years old, and by probing galaxy properties at much improved sensitivity. Interpreting the rich data provided by JWST requires careful modeling and comparison with theoretical expectations.

The goal of the conference is to bring together astrophysicists with interest in galaxy evolution from a variety of backgrounds, including observations, data science, and/or cosmological simulations to encourage knowledge sharing and collaborative efforts. By taking place within the first few years of JWST’s mission, this conference will offer an early view of the impact of JWST on the field and it will provide a forum to discuss future research directions within the community.
