PhD Position in Theoretical Cosmology

Applications are invited for a PhD position in Theoretical Cosmology at the Department for Astrophysics, University of Zurich, Switzerland.

Working with Prof. Yoo, the successful candidate will work on modeling galaxy clustering and cosmic microwave background (CMB) anisotropies to develop applications to measurements from the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) and the Planck satellite. These surveys deliver unprecedent amount ofprecision measurements of the large-scale structure of the Universe. It is therefore timely to revisit our theoretical modeling of galaxy clustering and CMB anisotropies in detail and ensure that the theoretical predictions for cosmological interpretation of data are as accurate as the measurement precision demands. Going beyond thestandard modeling, we will investigate the impacts of systematic errors intheoretical modeling such as a non-zero spatial curvature, relativistic effects, modification of gravity and so on.

The successful candidate is expected to have good understanding of theoretical cosmology and working knowledge in numerical computation. Applicants are expected to have a master degree in physics, astronomy, or any other related area.
