Minor in Astrophysics

Graduates of the Minor in Astrophysics (30 ECTS) understand the principles of Astronomy and Astrophysics. The students receive a first insight into the current research topics of astrophysics. They are able to extract and understand research results from the literature, as well as describe such results in writing (English).
Graduates of the extended Minor in Astrophysics (60 ECTS) in addition learn about the theoretical description of the universe, e.g. about the General Relativity Theory. A minor program of astrophysics is open only to students with the major subject program in Physics. For students who want to attend Astrophysics on the Master's level, this Astrophysics Minor on the Bachelor level is highly recommended.

The training begins with the lecture "Introduction to Astrophysics,"  followed by the lecture "Introduction to Astrobiology and Life in our Universe". Students complete an internship in the amount of approximately 250 hours, either at the ETHZ or at the Institute for Computational Science.
